Chard Equestrian is one of the top competition centres in the south west with an extensive program of equestrian events including FEI International Show Jumping, British Show Jumping , British Dressage and British Eventing and unaffiliated dressage, show jumping and eventing, unaffiliated combined training, arena eventing(during the winter months) and clinics. We hire out the venue to Riding Clubs, Pony Clubs and Showing groups and other organisations for a range of events.

At Chard Equestrian Jane and Sarah and the rest of the team look forward to welcoming you. Our aim is to provide a friendly environment, and are always willing to answer any questions you may have.

JANE GREGORY – PROPRIETOR

“From a field of show jumps to FEI status in ten years.”

Jane took over Chard Equestrian in 2013 which at the time, was a basic set-up. Affiliating to BS in 2014 was one turning point; building the arenas shortly followed. The venue went from strength to strength under her leadership, gaining credibility with each show and earning her famously loyal riders, sponsors and supporters.

SARAH – DEPUTY

“It’s not really like work.”

In it from the beginning, Jane welcomed Sarah in 2013, having known her as a smiley ten-year-old on the hunting field. Turning her hand to anything from show entries, cleaning, arena grading and everything in between, Sarah is an integral cog in the Chard Equestrian machine and serves as Jane’s indispensable second-in-command.

We welcomed Sara to the team in 2021. She started out as not much more than a arena party and has now turned into a important part of the team turning her hand to everything except anything that requires driving!!

Absolutely lovely place to compete. Arenas are immaculate, surfaces are fantastic and everything is so well organised. The salted caramel brownies from the cafe are a bonus! Can’t wait to head back here!

Came from Cheston with young horses. Fab facility, great parking, super selection of fences and a nice loo! Can’t wait to come back more in Spring, enjoy the cafe and the views.

Super impressed - this evening we hired the all-weather arena with SJ course and arrived to find a properly built course, numbered, with a great range of fillers, in a freshly harrowed arena. Top class, thank you very much.

If Carlsberg did equestrian centres they would still not be as good as chard. I’ve been to nearly all the major BS showjumping venues around the country over the years and chard is most definitely a stand out to me. It’s a long drive for us just under 6 hours all round trip. But well worth it. Friendly atmosphere, professional, top-class facilities and a lovely club house. Most importantly a brilliant collecting ring steward. Can’t wait to come back soon.

I'm not a horse person, but this facility is absolutely first-rate. I was very surprised by the size of the place and the facilities available. I loved the helicopter hanger. best of luck to you all and I look forward to attending some other events up there at some point.

Stayed several nights for the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society breed show. Couldn't have had a warmer welcome. Excellent facilities too.

My favourite venue in England. Although chard is 3 hours away I feel the journey is worth it every time. Every one is so friendly, helpful, accommodating and nothing is ever too much trouble. Great surface and fences. All the staff in the collecting rings are efficient and helpful. Rob Takes brilliant photos at affordable prices. Very easy to follow guidelines for social distancing.

Such a friendly, well organised venue. I arrived on my own and I cannot say how nice and helpful everyone has been. Can't wait to come back!
